I started out on this project not really knowing where I wanted to go with it. At first, as seen in my audio collection assignment, I thought I would simply do a walkaround of my bike in which I would just talk about it. But this idea bugged me for a couple of reasons. I thought that it was too simple and would not be interesting at all; I also thought there would be no way I could talk that long without messing up or just rambling.
So then I had the idea of trying to create a short storyline out of the project. I thought that it might be kind of cool to start out with an alarm clock and short snippets of morning noises in order to gather interest. Then, jumping into me starting my bike and then talking about it would be a good transition. I decided I would break up the text of me talking by adding in sound of me riding between lines.
Once I was able to compile all of these components together into a single piece, I listened to it to make sure it was smooth and the transitions worked well. At this point I realized the piece still needs a lot of work, but I’m really happy with the way it has turned out so far. In the final version I will probably try to smooth out some of the sound and transitions and might re-record some of the talking parts. Most of the noise I recorded was my own. The only exception is the alarm clock noise, which I got from Freesound.org from the following links. I had to get this sound online because when I tried recording it, it didn’t turn out well because my phone recorder is not very good. I might also try to add some music as a background in the final product, but I have yet to find a free to use track that I think would fit well.

Hello, there! I absolutely love your project. It is very good. Honestly, there is nothing that I would change or add. I really liked at the beginning how you had sounds of you getting ready this ready. I also liked how you explain your bike and about your bike and how you added sounds of your bike in motion. Overall, great job! Keep up the great work!! 🙂

Dan, I believe you have a great audio story so far. I love the beginning with all the ambient sounds you included for starting your day (particularly the teeth brushing). It helps the audience visualize how you start your day before getting onto your bike.
I would recommend utilizing the fading tool to make the change from the ambient noises to your talking, smoother. As well one of the great things about audition is, we can cut things out! I would recommend using the razor tool to cut out the parts where you say “uh” and shorten or remove the “so” in the very beginning. Lastly, I notice a change in levels at 1:00. This is quick and easy adjustment that could be done to make sure your audio are all the same levels.
Overall the story flows very well and the story you have is great. I hope these comments help!

So after reading the comments people left me, I think my project is actually pretty near the end stage and will not require much more work to get to where I want it. I do need to tidy up some of my transitions and maybe re record a few small things, such as some of the sound effects or narration segments. When I was recording these, I later found out that they didn’t turn out super clear because my microphone was not the best. I also think that my piece would benefit from some simple music in the background to make my narration sound less monotone. I still need to look on creative commons for something simple, but exciting. This will take some experimentation.I think that the overall content and storyline of my piece is pretty solid, and after a little bit of smoothing out the bumps it will be a great little audio story.
